DGT 2010, the official chess clock of the World Chess Federation FIDE

The DGT 2010 was introduced in 2007 and received the status of "Official FIDE Chess Clock" in June 2008 after tests by four top-level arbiters concluded that the clock is in full accordance with all FIDE rules and regulations.

Some features of the DGT 2010 were amended in November 2010 to comply with popular timing systems.

The main differences of the new model DGT 2010 with respect to the previous version are:

The front buttons are dark blue instead of red; For every manual option, the last setting is automatically saved. Even after switching off the timer
or using other options this setting is saved; Options for Scrabble™ are added; Bronstein delay with multiple time controls can be set; In Canadian Byo-yomi the extra time can be added automatically after the required number of moves; Some preset times were amended to more popular settings;

The DGT 2010 is suitable for use with many games e.g. it has Japanese and Canadian Byo-yomi settings for Go.

  • Siciliian Defense:Grand Prix Attack
    The f4 Sicilian has become popular and feared because it avoids the frightening amount of knowledge required to play Open Sicilians. It is often not treated with the respect it deserves. The strategic aims are quite simple to understand: CHECKMATE. The first edition was written when the Grand Prix Attack was just becoming noticed by strong chess players. Now there are over 20,000 examples in the databases. Nevertheless, the opening remains based more on the ideas explained by authors Hodgson and Day than on “theory”.

  • Play 2... Nf6 in the Sicilian
    Nimzowitsch-Rubinstein Variation
    On the map of modern chess theory there is a 'blank spot' - The Nimzowitsch-Rubinstein Variation of the Sicilian Defence (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nf6) Everyone has heard of it, but no one really knows anything about it. The literature devoted to this topic is extremely scanty. Two or three articles, a few brochures, one ancient monograph (in German) - and that's all. The book of international master Grigory Bogdanovisch fills this gap. The author, a recognized expert on the Variation, has summarized and fully systemized his many years of experience in the given field.

  • New Sicilian Gambits
    GM Soltis: "If white gets to attack in the Sicilian Defense anyway, why should he offer a pawn or two for the privilege? The answer is that black gets to counterplay in the Sicilian and his counterplay is usually as good as white's. That, in fact, is what makes the Sicilian popular. There are plenty of familiar Sicilian gambits(like the Smith Morra and Wing, which this book doesn't even cover). But in the last few years, a number of new ideas arising out of positional variations, have been discovered and found to pack a wallop for white". Here are six new white gambits against the Sicilian that the reader will have to attempt to destroy black!
