Book Description

A new and thorougly updated edition! Part 1A covers the Old Indian, Grunfeld Indian and King's Indian Defences (mainline but not 7...Nc6). Don't be mistaken: though the games start with 1.Nf3 in fact it covers the d2-d4 openings!

Alexander Khalifman is famous for his groundbreaking series "Opening for White According to Kramnik", and "Opening for Black According to Anand" which have set new standards for opening books.

Together with part 1A also part 1B has seen the light, covering the King's Indian Defence ("main mainline" with 7...Nc6).

About the concept of these series Khalifman writes: "It is not exactly a book about openings, at least not in the generally accepted fashion. It is not about the move 1.Nf3 and not about the Reti opening at all. This book is about how to solve your problems in the opening once and for all with the help of Vladimir Kramnik under my supervision... In fact this is a book about players who would like to play like Kramnik, but whose opponents are expected to be slightly weaker than Anand and Topalov..."

  • Opening for White According to Kramnik 1.Nf3 - VOLUME 3
In the first part of this volume, we have analyzed positions of the four knights system (1.Nf3 c5 2.c4 Nf6 3.Nc3 Nc6 4.g3). It is worth mentioning that starting from the moment our first volume came out of print, the focus of attention in this system has changed radically. The discussion earlier, particularly at a higher level, was centered on the moves 4...d5 and 4...e6, but later 4...g6 began to be played by Black much more often.
