Book Description

A thorough examination of the popular Berlin Defence (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 Nf6). The book is divided into two parts; the Anti-Berlin which contains comprehensive coverage of all lines after 3...Nf6, and the Berlin Endgame (4 0-) Nxe4 5 d4 Nd6 6 Bxc6 dxc6 7 dxe5 Nf5 8 Qxd8+ Kxd8.

Both authors are experienced exponents of the Berlin Defence and have clearly put a huge amount of effort into the analysis produced. Large amount of recent material (2010-11) is included.

About the Author(s)

Roman Ovetchkin is an international grandmaster and an experienced coach and trainer. He was in the team which enabled Ekaterina Kovalevska to become a vice-champion of the world in 2004. In 2007, he coached the "ABC" team and they shared 1st-2nd place in the European Cup for women. He was the winner of numerous international chess competitions.

Igor Lysyj is an international grandmaster. He won many times the students' championships and the Russia Universiades, both as an individual and as a member of the team of the Ural University. He participated in the team of Russia which won the World Students' Championship in 2008. He was the winner of numerous international chess tournaments.
