The Black Lion - An Aggressive Version of the Philidor Defense - Simon Williams
The onus is typically on the player with the Isolated Queen’s Pawn to find dynamic resources that compensate their structural weakness. The aim of this DVD is to offer the viewer tactical exercises that also illustrate the attacking prospects within IQP positions, and as the ensuing positions can arise from so many different openings, the content of the DVD emphasizes the importance of understanding this type of pawn structure.
Crushing Isolated Queen's Pawn Tactics - Robert Ris
The Sveshnikov Variation of the Sicilian also known as Lasker-Pelikan or Cheliabinsk Variation – is one of the most popular and fascinating replies to 1.e4
Sveshnikov Variation of the Sicilian - Loek Van Wely
The Dragon is one of Black’s most daring openings, leading to fascinating positions with opposite castling and strong mutual attacks. This DVD provides a complete and up to date repertoire to help Black to score with the Dragon. A Complete Repertoire for White
The aim of this DVD is to provide the player with White with a complete repertoire. 3.Nd2 is an excellent weapon with which to fight the French Defence. as the author of this DVD explains. Based as it is on his personal experience and the latest theoretical developments, this DVD is an excellent starting point from which to learn how to play 3. Nd2, the Tarrasch Variation.
The French Defense 3. Nd2 - Sergei Tiviakov
While almost everybody is spending 95% of his opening preparation time on major lines, there are some tricky players including strong GMs (I am not an exception) who prepare for their opponents some side lines, which contain many an underwater reef. I decided to collect those secondary openings in one single DVD. From now on openings such as the Pirc, the Scandinavian and the Alekhine Defences will not appear to you in your nightmares any more. The 1.e4 player should be actually thank Black for choosing these openings, since he is providing White with a better centre, a stable advantage and generally speaking pleasant play. The only thing White needs to do is to spend some time studying the lines. I will not bother you with encyclopaedic approach. There is a more practical way.
1. e4 - How to Tame the Alekhine, Scandinavian and Pirc - Viktor Bologan
Is there an absolute truth in a flexible opening such as the Pirc Defense? After I had played and studied the Pirc intensively for more than ten years I was sure I had found the best move order against each White system. Then I stopped playing the opening for a while and when I checked new ideas I realized that things were not that simple. Thus, the repertoire I recommend on this DVD is a combination of good lines in my old repertoire that have stood the test of time and new lines inspired by my fresh look at the Pirc. When playing the Pirc one must know what to do against White‘s attacking systems.
Play the Pirc Like a Grandmaster - Attacking Lines - Mihail Marin - VOL. 2
This DVD concentrates on the increasingly popular 5.Bf4 variation of the Queen’s Gambit Declined and gives White a dynamic and aggressive weapon against Black’s set-up. White puts his bishop on f4 to avoid the exchanges that often occur after 5.Bg5 and as early as possible wants to put pressure on Black. At the highest level the variation with 5.Bf4 has become much more popular than the more traditional 5.Bg5 line. Top players such as Alexei Shirov, Vladimir Kramnik, Levon Aronian, Wesley So and Anish Giri play it, and Vishy Anand used it in his only victory over Carlsen in the 2014 World Chess Championship. This DVD recommends dynamic lines for White against all set-ups by Black and gives you a good, aggressive, and reliable weapon against the Queen’s Gambit Declined.
A Dynamic Weapon Against the Queen's Gambit Decline - 5. bf4 - Simon Williams
The Grunfeld Indian is an active and dynamic reply to 1.d4 which can lead to complex and extremely sharp positions. So it’s no wonder that GM Alexei Shirov has included this opening.
My Best Games in the Grunfeld - Alexei Shirov
This DVD provides you with a repertoire of attacking lines against: The Scandinavian, Alekhine’s Defence, The Petroff, The Philidor, The Pirc, The Modern Defence (1. e4 g6). Many of these openings are very popular in club chess, yet they are often underestimated by players of the white pieces. Using his wealth of experience playing with 1 e4, Grandmaster Daniel King explains the openings and provides you with an aggressive system against each of them. This is the second part of Daniel King’s project ‘Attack with 1 e4’ (part I dealt with the Sicilian, the French, The Caro Kann and 1...e5). King’s recommendations aim to put your opponent under pressure right from the start of the game, and when players are under pressure, mistakes occur. This is a practical repertoire – if we study openings we want to be sure to use them in our games. After just a few moves, you will be dictating play.
POWER PLAY - Attacking with 1. e4 - PART II - Daniel King - VOLUME 19
The current DVD covers all of Black’s replies to the Catalan, some of which can even transpose to other openings such as the Tarrasch System and the Queen’s Indian.
The Catalan - Victor Bologan
This DVD concentrates on the King’s Gambit accepted with 3 Bc4. Bronstein once said about this move, ‘You want to play the King’s Gambit? Well, Black can draw after 3. Nf3.
King's Gambit - Simon Williams - VOL. 1
The Evans is an attempt to destroy Black in gambit fashion straight out of the opening and giants of previous years such as Adolf Andersson and Paul Morphy played lots of brilliancies with it. But the Evans Gambit has stood up to the test of time and in the modern era players such as Garry Kasparov, Hikaru Nakamura or Wei Yi have tried it with success. This DVD will prove that the gambit is still fully playable and a great way to try and blast Black away right from move one.

Many chessplayers consider Albin’s Countergambit (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e5) nothing more than a relict of romantic chess, connecting with it – at most – the names of the old masters like Lasker, Aljechin, Janowski, Marshall and Keres.

After 4 years since my book on the Chebanenko Slav we can definitely say this opening is even more popular and everybody links the name of Chebanenko to the line with 4... a6 in the Slav.
The Chebanenko - Still Improved - Victor Bologan
The Meran Variation in the Semi-Slav (1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3 e6 5.e3 Nbd7 6.Bd3 dxc4 7.Bxc4 b5) is a s trategically and dynamically complex opening full of tactical possibilities. And this DVD provides you with a comprehensive overview of typical tactical patterns for both sides. Positional concepts are also explained. In interactive format IM Robert Ris offers you a lot of exercises, including hints and advice that help you to know key tactical patterns of this variation to play it with success. Really, among the open games the only opening with which White can really fight for an advantage in the long term is the Ruy Lopez. But in order to make this serious effort, he has buckle down and learn a whole series of sub-variations. That is what the professionals do, including of course Viktor Bologan, who now reveals the secrets of his own grandmaster repertoire. For many the Ruy Lopez really only begins after the moves 3...a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.0-0 Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 d6 8.h3 0-0 9.c3 - the starting point for Bologan's third DVD. Black then has a whole host of variations, but the ensuing structures have much in common and if you are equipped with some insider tips you will be able to take the correct decisions which can frequently only be made on a basis of generalised evaluations. Viktor Bologan is an outstanding adviser because when one considers his super score against the Ruy Lopez, he must have excellent knowledge of the ins and outs of this opening, and he does not hold back from sharing this knowledge with you. The Hedgehog is not just an opening, it is a system. A system that can be used against 1.c4, against 1.e4 and also 1.d4
POWER PLAY - Hedgehog - Daniel King - VOLUME 12
Even though the Semi-Tarrasch cannot offer a complete repertoire against 1.d4, being conditioned of White’s move order, it is an excellent complement to the Nimzoindian Defence. Moreover, it is a viable way of escaping the strategic pressure in the Exchange Queen’s Gambit while also presenting a reliable weapon against the main Symmetrical English systems
Semi-Tarrasch - A Universal Weapon Against 1. d4 - Mihail Marin
With the help of this DVD one can forget about fears concerning the tons of theory in the Open Sicilian and can get straight into the real fight!

Philidor Defense - Alexei Shirov
This DVD is packed full of new, exciting and novel ideas; based on a repertoire starting with the moves 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e6 3 Nf3 with g3! to follow. Currently this is the most testing way to challenge players who prefer the Nimzo. White develops sensibly - but has aggressive intentions in mind! On this DVD, I will tell you everything you need to know to play this way as White, but the DVD will also be of interest to players who are unsure what to do against 3 Nf3 - giving you a repertoire with Black as well
Beat the Queen's Indian - The Modern Fianchetto Line - GM Simon Williams
The Scotch has long been associated with exciting play, although people often doubt it’s positional base. But the opening has evolved from the swashbuckling games of the 19th century to become a sound, but aggressive, alternative to the evergreen Spanish. In his first Fritz-Trainer DVD, Parimarjan Negi looks at the latest revolution in Scotch theory that has completely changed white’s plans, and once again brought back the interest of the world’s elite. Negi presents not only the white strategies in detail but also outlines a dynamic way for Black to counter this latest trend.
The Modern Scotch Opening - Parimarjan Negi
Nimzo’s other defence, 1 e4 Nc6!?, is a fascinating opening which can lead to diverse types of positions. Black is not committed to anything; in fact he may encounter different pawn structures and varied development plans out of the variations that arise. On this all-new ChessBase DVD, FIDE Senior Trainer Andrew Martin maps out an aggressive repertoire for Black, which is ideal for the club player.
Nimzowitsch Defence - 1. e4 Nc6 - Andrew Martin
The French Defense is one of the best choices a player can make for his opening repertoire, especially older players with limited study time.

A Complete Defense Against 1. d4
The Semi-Slav defense (1.d4 d5 followed by ...e7-e6 and ...c7-c6) is one of the most popular opening set-ups for Black. Black can follow two entirely different concepts. One includes an early ...Ng8-f6 and leads to a number of popular and deeply analysed systems: the Meran, the Anti-Meran, the Botvinnik, the Moscow, the Anti- Moscow, the Westphalian, etc. The other, in which Black refrains from ...Ng8-f6 at an early stage, is presented by GM Michal Krasenkow on this DVD. Black keeps a choice between two double-edged interesting systems: the Noteboom variation (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c6 4.Nf3 dxc4) and the Stonewall (...f7-f5) if White plays an early e2-e3. Of course Black’s decision to refrain from an early ...Ng8-f6 gives White other options, the most important being the Slav gambit (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c6 4.e4 etc.). Therefore Black’s set-up may lead to a whole range of different and interesting positions, which help the black player to broaden his strategic and tactical understanding. This makes the Noteboom/Stonewall opening repertoire a particularly good choice for young, aspiring players.
The Triangle Setup - Michal Krasenkow
This DVD looks at the most important and most frequent tactical themes and sacrifices in the Sicilian Najdorf. Grandmaster Niclas Huschenbeth shows us the typical tactical ideas for both White and Black along with the criteria that need to be met for a particular sacrifice to work in this opening in several demonstrative games.
Tactics Toolbox Najdorf - Niclas Huschenbeth
The French Defence is one of the most reliable openings against 1 e4. The solid central pawn chain protects Black’s king and provides the basis for counter-attacks on both wings. On this DVD Grandmaster Daniel King offers you a repertoire for Black with the French. Based around ten stem games, all White’s major lines against the French are covered. The French Defence is one of the most flexible of openings. This DVD explores different systems so that you can always keep your opponent guessing as to your choice.

My Best Games in the Spanish by Alexei Shirov - VOLUME 1
Modern tournament practice has virtually surpassed the so-called ''opening theory''. Thanks to a wealth of tournament games some openings and lines develop so rapidly that even the ambitious amateur has difficulties to keep his own repertoire updated. On this DVD Kasimdzhanov presents highly topical openings and shows their current state of theory. From the perspective of a top player he explains why certain openings are played while others more or less vanished from tournament practice. This DVD helps you to remain up-to-date in a number of important and popular openings and provides you with many ideas for your own repertoire.
Trends in Modern Openings 2015 - Rustam Kasimdzhanov
The Berlin Defence which arises after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 Nf6 4.O-O Nxe4 gives White a hard nut to crack, and the solidity of the line led to its nickname “Berlin Wall”. The mainline 5.d4 in particular leads to positions in which White has had trouble to prove any advantage. On this DVD Latvian top player Alexei Shirov proposes a different approach. He recommends to play 5.Re1 which leads to a symmetrical position that according to Shirov is not boring at all. With a whole range of grandmaster games Shirov shows that White can indeed develop pressure and seize the initiative and that the position is full of subtleties.
How to Crack the Berlin Wall with 5. Re1 - Alexei Shirov
The Sicilian family is big but the Sicilian that puts most pressure on White’s centre is the Classical Variation – Black quickly develops both knights to their most active squares. This DVD offers Black a complete repertoire against all weapons White may employ on move six. The recommended repertoire is not as risky as other Sicilians but still offers Black plenty of counter-play. It is an ideal system for players who want to enter the wonderful world of the Sicilian.
