The title is to make it strong and clear it is written from the White side. You do not have to wade through page after page, suggestion after suggestion, to find the best White continuations. The analysis will show you how to get an advantage with White by getting you through the opening against all Black variations. White plays 1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 followed by 3.Ne2, with the flexible option to break through with d4 if desired.

    Catalog Code: CB0020CD

In this Chess Openings for Hustlers Volume II the author looks at both the Accepted 3.exd6 and the Declined 3.Nf3 and 3.Bf4. The idea of this gambit is well worth the effort of the player who wants to learn an aggressive Black defense against 1.d4 where white doesn't control the flow of the game. The book contains 155 games divided into variations with light analysis played by a variety of players ranging from Master to class C. A player index has been provided which lists players grouped by ''Class'' to help the reader evaluate the games.

CLEARANCE - Beating the Pirc/Modern with the Fianchetto Variation
    Catalog Code: CB0074CD

One of the most solid and consistently successful systems available against 1..d6 and 1..g6 is the subtle Fianchetto. If you play 1.e4, you will want to know how to beat the Pirc/Modern. If you play either of these 2 defenses, you will want to know what will be played against you. The White setup is pawns at e4, d4, and g3, White Knights at c3 and e2, and Bishops at g2 and usually e3 - then attack, attack!

    Catalog Code: CB0018CD

This is Volume 1 in the author's new series Chess Openings For Hustlers. ''You will find similar lines of attack and similar combination situations in several different lines. These can be either very useful (if you take the time to learn them) or very treacherous. The one thing the Norfolk Gambit should not do is bore you''-author. ''Be warned: If you are a `bean counter' obsessed with saving pawns for an extended end-game, do not play these gambits! However, if you are willing to commit to an attack which will decimate the 'bean counters' of the chess world, this book is for you''- Phillip A. York.

    CLEARANCE - The Fighting Fajarowicz
    Catalog Code: CB0019CD

The Budapest, 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e5, is really a counterattack rather than a defense. It appeals to players who like to challenge White for the initiative early in the game. This particularly applies to the Fajarowicz Variation, 3.dxe4 Ne4, in which(by contrast with the 3..Ng4 main line of the Budapest) Black puts more emphasis on fighting for key squares than on seeking the early recapture of the pawn he has given up. This book contains 3 different sections: 1)Ideas for black to aim for and areas to avoid; 2)A 12 chapter Analysis section(including one with explanation on what to do if white avoids the Fajarowicz on move 3; and 3)A Complete Games section with well over 300 games ranging from unannotated to lightly annotated for you to study.

    CLEARANCE - Beating the Caro-Kann
    Catalog Code: CB0024CD

New opening ideas are created frequently, but few have had the meteoric career of Nigel Short's system against the Caro-Kann defense. Virtually unknown before 1988, it has become a regular customer in super tournaments since the 1990's. And yet it is so simple to handle that a Class B player can master most of the strategies in an afternoon. The British GM's system consists of playing the Advance variation of the Caro-Kann with a relatively modest form of development- modest yet it can pack quite a wallop. What short discovered was not just a new move, but a new concept. Despite the presence of the annoying bishop on the excellent b1-h7 diagonal, Black had not equalized, he announced. Short demonstrated that the bishop could, in fact, become a liability that would be attacked in the general expansion of white's pawns on the kingside. 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.e5 Bf5(as well as 3..c5 and 3..Na6)-new strategy against each one.

GM Soltis: ''Against the King's Indian Defense and the Benoni Group(all of them: Czech, Modern, etc..)there is a simple, relatively new, yet ambitious setup that can be played effectively against each member of the family...the key element here is the bishop on d3(5.Bd3!)''. CLEARANCE - Grand Prix Attack
    Catalog Code: CB0026CD

When faced with the Sicilian Defense, you have to make the choice to either wade through a maze of variations in the main line or diverge early into a relatively lesser known system. The early advance of white's f-pawn fits this objective perfectly. White gains more space in the center and kingside with 2.f4, forming the basis for lasting pressure and often leading to violent attacks against the black kingside. After 1.e4 c5 2.f4, this variation fell out of fashion int he early 90's due to 2..d5. But take heart! Smith and Hall show that this variation still has some venom!

    CLEARANCE - The Veresov Attack
    Catalog Code: CB0008CD

The Veresov Attack is a vigorous opening system which offers a wealth of interesting strategic and tactical chances for white. It is interesting to note that it sort of resembles a sort of ''Queenside Ruy Lopez''. This often leads to rapid queenside castling with sharpened play. Alternately, white can simply continue to develop his kingside pieces followed by kingside castling. This ''dual castling'' motif of the Veresov can keep black guessing as to white's true intentions.

CLEARANCE - Winning with the Benko Gambit
    Catalog Code: CB0023CD

Smith & Hall: ''The Benko Gambit is a rare sort of opening: Black offers a pawn on the third move to snatch the initiative from White. The psychological effect is instantaneous. White, who thought he would control the opening with the initial tempo is immediately faced with vexing decisions. 'Do I take the pawn and try to keep it?'(Accepted); 'Do I take it for a little white but offer to return it later?' (Semi-Accepted); 'Or do I avoid the gambit altogether?' (Declined). 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5!. In any event we show that whichever course white adopts, black will obtain fluid counter-play. If white commits inaccuracies(even relatively slight ones), Black can quickly seize the initiative. By first studying our familiarization section the student new to the Benko will be given a good overview of all the main variations in the Benko Gambit. Next we present a thorough and up-to-date survey of all the major variations to show how Black can steer play into dynamic counter-play-oriented positions, which will provide exciting games and good practical winning chances. This gets us to the main lines, the Three Knights and Four Knights Game with the Belgrade Gambit included(the 1st time GM Evans ever recommended a gambit!). These 'hold the draw in hand and go for the win' openings have been researched like never before. There is more dynamic play, for those that know them, than ever realized.
