    Book Description

The Dilworth Attack is one of the most interesting lines in the Ruy Lopez. Black gives up two pieces in return for a rook and two pawns, with excellent attacking prospects. In most cases, White weathers the storm but must then play a complicated endgame. This works to Black's advantage, since Black is more likely to be familiar with the typical endgame structures and strategies. The Dilworth continues to be seen at the highest levels of chess, especially in the hands of Artur Yusupov.

In this, the first ever monograph devoted to the line, noted author Eric Schiller explains all of the critical ideas in the opening and endgame, and provides many examples of each from tournament play. With this weapon in your arsenal for Black, the Spanish Inquisition can prove to be a most unpleasant experience for White!

Ghenrikh M. Kasparyan (1910-1995) is considered to have been without doubt the greatest composer and analyst of chess endgame studies ever. He was so great that when a great new chess star named Kasparyan appeared on the scene, the Soviet authorities decided to change the name of the second Kasparyan to Kasparov to avoid confusion. In this book, his master work, Kasparyan first classifies endgame studies into the analytic as opposed to artistic. Analytic studies are those likely to arise in an actual game.

    • Secrets of the Janisch Gambit - EMPIRE CHESS
The Janisch Gambit is an exceptionally effective surprise weapon for black against the Ruy Lopez. Also known as the Schliemann Defense, black kicks off the game by immediately offering a pawn sacrifice on move 3 with 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 f5!? – resembling a reversed Vienna Gambit or King’s Gambit in that black is rapidly introducing extra firepower with the f-pawn to attack white’s center.
