    Description

The House of Staunton is proud to offer the Library Zukertort Series Chess set. A full library-sized Chess set, it features a 2.875" King with a 1.3" diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a beautiful finish.

The Library Zukertort Chess set has been designed to withstand years of use (and abuse), as it lacks many of the ornate details commonly found on Chess Sets that can be susceptible to damage in the heat of battle. For example, the Zukertort Chess set features reinforced Pawn collars, stylized Knights and minimal Queen crenelations for unmatched durability. The Library Zukertort Series Chess set is ideal for those that are interested in both the historical importance of the game of Chess, as well as those looking for an attractive Chess set that is both economical and durable.

As with all of our Chess sets, the Library Zukertort Series Chessmen exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a House of Staunton chess set. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close!

The Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard that was introduced by The House of Staunton in 1993.

Included with purchase: A FREE 1870 Chess Box for the Library sized pieces

The Post 1870 Library Slide Top Chess Box is the most economical way to protect your chess pieces. It comes with a removable red pillow lining that allows it to hold a set of unwrapped Library-size chess pieces, 2.875" or less. The box will hold the extra Queens if packed carefully.

    Features:

    • Convenient Slide Top lid for easy access and secured storage of your chess pieces.
    • A plaque with Howard Staunton's signature and information on the lid of the Chess Box.
    • Holds a set of Library-Sized chess pieces (34 pieces including extra Queens) with King Heights 2.875" or less.
    • Beautiful red interior of the Chess Box separates it from the rest.

    Kingside Stamping

    What is Kingside Stamping?

Kingside stamping was part of the original Staunton Pattern design, consisting of a King's Crown stamped into the Rook  and Knight that started on the right side (or King's Side) of the chessboard.  In Descriptive notation, it is useful for distinguishing between the Kingside and Queen's Side pieces.

Whether you use them in your chess strategy or for historical decoration, we offer kingside Stamping on some of our chess sets!
