CLEARANCE - Grandmaster Versus Amateur

Product Code: B0054QT

Description

You might assume that our library is huge - indeed! - and, naturally, new titles keep coming and old titles, well, they sometimes get stuck in dark corners. But that shouldn't be an obstacle for an enthusiastic chess book lover! It could be literally the walk through the wonderland. So, we were in the playful search for a hidden gem - and, hurraaah, here it is!

The title could be misleading. The illustration with the lion (a grandmaster?) that is terrifying a poor amateur, even more so. But no, it's not about them, it's about us! The right title should say: How To Beat a Grandmaster! It's a million-dollar question and this book comes closer to the truth you'll ever get. The author - it's none other but the chess sage, GM Jacob Aagaard, and among those who explain the ultimate chess secret are names such as Marin, Eljanov, Avrukh, Peter Heine Nielsen... Respect!

A multinational array of top grandmasters explain the difference in thinking between professional and amateur chess players, and how the amateur can bridge the gap. It usually takes at least a decade of sustained effort for even the most talented player to reach the grandmaster level - this book cannot guarantee to make the reader a chess grandmaster, but it is certainly a healthy nudge in the right direction.
