Secrets of the Janisch Gambit - EMPIRE CHESS
Description / Secrets of the Janisch Gambit - EMPIRE CHESS
Empire Chess – Vol 15
The Janisch Gambit is an exceptionally effective surprise weapon for black against the Ruy Lopez. Also known as the Schliemann Defense, black kicks off the game by immediately offering a pawn sacrifice on move 3 with 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 f5!? – resembling a reversed Vienna Gambit or King’s Gambit in that black is rapidly introducing extra firepower with the f-pawn to attack white’s center. The Janisch Gambit may appear completely insane and unsound, however this is certainly not the case! This chess opening has been employed at the highest levels by various Grandmasters including Judit Polgar, David Bronstein, Alexander Shabalov, Arthur Bisguier, and most recently Super-GM Teimour Radjabov.
One of the main advantages of the Janisch Gambit is the element of surprise. By immediately sidestepping the main lines of the Ruy Lopez, you are going to take your opponent out of his preparation and directly into yours – guaranteeing you a psychological advantage in the first stage of the game. It is also very uncomfortable for most Ruy Lopez players to face such a dynamic response from black, as many ¨Spanish Game¨ players are more inclined to a quieter game full of positional maneuvering – NOT the crazy tactical complications that commonly arise in the Janisch Gambit. If you are looking for a dynamic defense with the black pieces against the Ruy Lopez, the Janisch Gambit is the solution you have been looking for!
This chess DVD is presented by GM Leonid Kritz, an experienced chess trainer who has frequently employed the Janisch Gambit with success at the grandmaster level. GM Kritz’s chess career features countless impressive victories and his FIDE rating is established at well over 2600 – however what makes this chess DVD stand out from others is the clarity of presentation. Grandmaster Kritz has over a decade of chess training experience for players of all levels, and his skill as a teacher really shines through in this 2 hours and 45 minute comprehensive chess training DVD. In the chess DVD ¨Secrets of the Janisch Gambit¨ GM Kritz will teach you basic positional concepts, advanced strategic maneuvers, and common tactical themes in the Janisch Gambit, guaranteeing his viewers a strong level of success against the Ruy Lopez!
