    1. Beautiful set

      The is one set where the Knight is not really the star attraction;
      The Knight are very simple with minimal detail, which is important for historical correctness for those wanting the pieces to be close to the real 1914 version!

      So, what is the star of this set; IT IS EVERY SINGLE PIECE!
      The king with his gentle indentation on the crown and no cross. The queen with more extended crown and well done crenelations, so precise!
      The Bishop with a more balloon lire mitre and its cut sloping more to one side!
      The rooks with thicker parapets, and merlons(upward extended walls) so well cut! Their stem is more slight in build than the traditional -- wide stem of most rooks! This is no way takes away from the stability-- as the BASE is wide by design, 1.43 in base width!
      The pawns are tall(2.3to 2.4 inches EACH MEASURED digitally, gentile thinly sloping collars,no short minimized piece here!

      The real star is the DESIGN! if you look at the pieces you will notice ALL have a slender stem that broadens out at the bottom with REAL PURPOSE-- the stability ---of ALL the pieces is a pleasure as you move them! I thought the set might be a little light as the description says -40.6 ounces.
      When I digitally weighed and reweighed the set-- it was a total of 45.82 ounces - on 2 different scales!!
      This was such a pleasant surprise!!!
      The thin neck leading to down to the broad base ( look how LOW the base starts, then broadens out-- these are SO WELL balanced and stabile!
      EVERY PIECE is this way! The craftmen of this Camaratta set-- planned this set with care and thought out design!!
      I got the ANJAN/ Boxwood set and the Anjan is beautiful, with grain that adds to each piece!
      The boxwood was smooth and well finished! The collars of the significant pieces are slightly wider than they look in the pictures-- well done and that is also a great look!

      I recommend this set highly, but, it is the set and ALL the pieces that IMO outshine the knight( which is still well done!)

      If there is one shortcoming; it is in the description-- it says; there is "gold embossed leather under each king with Frank Camarratta's signature on those leather pads"!
      My set-- did not have this at all- both my kings came with the green felt!
      It is still such a well designed set!
